New mobile-to-mobile payment solution from Rollpay

Rollcomm have just launched a new mobile-to-mobile payment system called Rollpay and is currently pitching their new system to retailers, wholesale traders, banks and operators. Rollpay is a free to use for customers payment system that then charges the merchant a fee for the transactions. Its currently available on Nokia Phones but is soon to be released on iOS, Android and BlackBerry OS.

Here’s an example of a transaction using a mobile phone and handheld terminal similar to that you might find in a retail store.

A customer arrives at the cash register, and the cashier enters the merchandise, which costs e.g. $100. The customer starts the Rollpay Mobile App and connects to the Rollpay Terminal. The customer chooses the payment point, identified by the merchant’s name.

The Rollpay Terminal gives the customer a number (e.g.: 88). The customer informs the cashier about the customer number he received (e.g.: 88). The cashier enters this number into the cash register, which is also connected to the Rollpay Terminal. The cash register sends the amount to the terminal.

The Rollpay Terminal sends the price of the merchandise ($100) to the customer’s mobile phone for confirmation. The customer accepts the $100 by pushing the confirm button. The cash register issues a receipt, a copy of which arrives at the customer’s mobile phone immediately.
